Subject:Christmas time is here again...
Time:12:09 pm
My gawd, it's that time of the year again... this time last year I was hanging out in London wishing it would snow and being sorely disappointed that it was just plain cold for no good reason. Looking back it was pretty cool though, I still looooved Glasgow more though, purely because the place feels almost magical.

It was about this time as well that a girl decided she missed me, ah well, I don't expect it to happen twice in a row (but would be nice regardless).

Got all my gifts fer people, wonder what I'll be getting this Christmas, I hope it's awesome - I hope it's not something like socks or underwear.

I hope everyone has a great time this year!

I would have thought that by now I would be over it, that I would be okay with what happened, and I guess in part I am, but in other ways I'm not. Sometimes it just hurts a lot, what happened. Sometimes I wonder if I had just done something different maybe things would be okay, maybe she would have liked me more.

She meant a whole lot to me, probably more than she'll ever understand, and I guess it's just a bit painful to have her suddenly deny everything, to not even acknowledge me.

I loved her so very much, and my heart still feels so incredibly broken. I hear things about her, things that seem incredibly mean, things that don't sound like her at all and wonder whether I knew her at all, whether she's the same girl I "met" more than a year ago, the same girl I fell madly in love with and whom fell in love with me... I don't know... maybe she isn't. Despite that, it's still tough moving on, there were so many things we wanted to do, so many things *I* wanted to do and say, and yes, hear.

And now it'll never happen.

I really wish she would have loved me. Sometimes I miss her so much.

Well, since my last real post about what I had been up to, quite a few things have been happening, for one, I've gotten a job (omg!) with a company called Web Africa, I do stuff like technical support, administration, billing, etc. (actually we all really share the same responsibilities). I work with 6 other guys (though one of them only occasionally comes in to do some account related work) and it's a pretty cool place to work at. We have a good deal of fun and it's a very relaxed environment. Sometimes it gets stressful, like yesterday when we're pretty sure nearly every server/service went down at least once (Friday the 13th catching up on us perhaps), and you start getting a lot of support tickets or calls.

I've been saving up my money so I can buy a ticket to visit the US, and I've almost got enough. The person I'm wanting to visit isn't as excited as before, but I'm hoping that given some time everything will be okay again and the excitement will be back. It's pretty scary really, I've been overseas, but this is really different, there's a lot of anxiety and "what if's" that run through my mind, both positive and negative, and it'll be the first time I've been this far away and doing it all on my own (well, I'll be with someone, but still) - it's risky, for sure, but if you don't do it, it'll never happen to begin with.

The guys in the office and I are going to go watch the Star Wars Episode III premiere tomorrow, I can't wait, I think it's going to be awesome and we got some great seats (right in the middle of the cinema).

I've also been spending time with Jill and Cornelle lately, I've needed to be around friends because I've been feeling pretty lonely and down (for various reasons) and I really dig them. The nice thing is that they're kinda on the way from work to home (with a bit of a small detour), but unfortunately they're really busy with university work now, so I'm not getting to hang out with them as frequently.

Anyway, maybe I'll have something to write after today, or maybe I'll write something about Ep III tomorrow after the movie, we will see.

Well, Valentines Day was a combination of being pretty awesome and pretty sucky. I guess that's the way it goes. Nothing much else I can say.

Well, here's the first set of pictures from the trip, they're actually from about halfway through the trip (when we hit France and then went to Venice), as I'm having trouble finding batteries for the camera at the moment and these were stored on the laptop.

Anyway, these are the best ones I could find.

Warning, photo's ahead! )

Whew, trip is finally over, and boy did it feel long at times. Egypt was really awesome, especially the boat trip and the temples at Luxor (the Luxor temples are like the stuff you see on TV). It was amazing.

After the boat trip (which took 4 days), we went to Dubai (during the shopping festival), and I must say, Dubai is amazing. It's one of the few cities that we visited (if not the only city) that I really feel I could live in if I had to and had the money to. The place is so modern and everything is top of the range there (and it's a computer geek dream). I also saw a big Ikea store there, but alas, was unable to get there to see what it's like there. I really feel that Dubai is as good as a city can get as far as planning, and development goes.

Unfortunately we only had one day there, and most of it was spent buying stuff (I bought a wifi card for my laptop - much needed, a keyboard for my PDA - also much needed, the Indiana Jones DVD collection, the Fawlty Towers DVD collection - which I actually conned my dad into buying because he likes Fawlty Towers too and some new headphones - I seem to have lost my old set in England somewhere), but I would really like to visit Dubai again and really look around the city (and shop some more).

Now I'm back home, relaxing, no longer having to run around and see sights, which is pretty great after a month of rushing around. The temperature is absolutely boiling here in Cape Town, which is quite strange as it generally doesn't get this hot here (but then again, the weather seems to have been screwey everywhere over the world lately).

It's nice to finally have a proper Internet connection and stuff again *sighs happily*, and once we've sorted out all the pictures on the camera I'll post them here.

Catch you later. <3

Egypt is currently amazing (Giza/The Pyramids/Cairo), going into the pyramid, riding a camel, being harrassed by hawkers, etc. You can tell you're in Africa/the 3rd world, because the place is FILTHY (and admittedly, full of arabs), dusty, totally disorganized (street lanes are definitely optional), and noisy. It kinda makes you appreciate what South Africa has when you compare it just to something like Egypt. Sure, we don't have the pyramids, and camels and stuff, but we do at least have what appears like a bit of civilization. It's all amazing though.

Tomorrow we wake up at the crack of dawn... okay, I lie probably before the crack of dawn... and fly down to Aswan, then we take a boat up to Luxor, which will take 4 days, stopping off to check out the various temples along the way (which should be interesting), and then head from Luxor off to Dubai with a brief hop at Cairo (probably to switch planes or something). Then we're at Dubai for 2 days and then back home (whew!).

Oh my god, Venice was wonderful, a great Hotel, and a really beautiful city (although looking pretty ancient). It's so totally peaceful and such slow living... I would never live there of course, I'm too much of a big city person, but I would love to visit there again, go on the Gondola's again, etc.

We went to Murano, which is an island just off of Venice (maximum a mile), and is best known for its glass blowing. The stuff they make out of glass there is AMAZING (and it's all one of a kind stuff cuz it's all traditionally blown glass)... of course, because of this you're looking at all the stuff being a tad pricey, but it's worth it.

It was all really cool.

Anyway, I'm in Rome now, we did a trip around the city in a bus just to look at all the sights and stuff (tons of ancient Roman ruins and buildings all over the city) and it looks like tomorrow morning we're going to be doing the sights properly.

Anyway, might be on again tomorrow, or might only get on when we hit Egypt (Sunday evening), but the trip isn't being that bad at the moment (other than the cruddy hotel we're staying in in Rome, but anyway).

Whew, that was an unbelievably long time in France, I dunno, it wasn't as great as I was originally hoping it would be (the UK was far better, but maybe because I understood the language), anyway, we're all packed and ready to head on to our next destination, Venice on an overnight train. Hopefully I won't be encountering any dodgy looking italians along the way (watch Eurotrip if you're totally in the dark as to what I mean).

Today we ended off our stint in France by visiting the Palace of Versailles. As with everything in France, it looks grand and great from a distance, but the second you actually get up close you see how grimy and run down it actually is. Admittedly it must cost a small fortune to maintain, but something like that should be maintained, because, while it looks totally hideous with all the ornamentation and gold paint, it's a goddamn palace!

I've had it up to here *waves his hand above his head* with queues though.

Oh, also when we were getting on the train to the Palace the cops pulled this guy off the train and started hitting him with a baton... it was hectic, he was probably some pickpocket or something, they have signs all over telling you to look out for pickpockets. It was quite quick tho, but of course then everyone has to look and see what's happening and it's all "ooh, aah". Ah well, crime doesn't always pay.

Dunno when next I'll hit the Internet (nor what time, unfortunately), though I'm sure I'll find an internet cafe somewhere in Venice or Rome or something, meanwhile the pictures keep piling up, I'm sure we now have around 200 or so that I'm going to have to wade through to pick out the better looking ones... but by the looks of it I'm only going to be able to do that when we get back home (on the 17th for those of you wondering) and I can work on a proper machine and a (relatively) proper internet connection.

See you guys soon. <3

Just writing to let you guys know that I'm here safely in Paris, things are going well, New Years was pretty boring (spent it in a small town unfortunately - thank god for video games...), Eurodisney was AWESOME (I wish we had been there a lot longer), but France in general is INSANELY expensive. We're here in Paris for the next 3 or so days, then we take a train to Venice which lasts overnight, I'm unsure how long we will be staying there, then on to Rome, again, unsure how long we will be there, then we fly to Egypt for 2 days (staying in the Hilton Ramses... AWESOME!!!), take a 4 day boat trip down the Nile and then head over to Dubai for a few days before flying back home (thank god).

Been playing on my Gamecube lately, I'm so glad I got it, I've wanted one for AGES... lemme try remember what games I got, um... Paper Mario 2, Viewtiful Joe, Tales of Symphonia, Mario Kart: Double Dash, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Collection, Pokemon Stadium (my Sister's game), Mario Party 4, Zelda: The Wind Waker, Animal Crossing aaaaand I *think* that's it. Not that bad a collection, but I'm currently playing Paper Mario almost exclusively (It's an awesome RPG).

I honestly can't wait to get back home, to the comfort of my own bed, my own computer, our dog, etc. I bet you Zoe (if you don't know, that's our dog) misses us so much and I know I miss her tons too.

Anyway, I'm so happy that I've had the chance to catch up on what's been happening with you guys and girls... I miss you all very much (and some more than others), I hope you guys celebrated New Years in style, had some fun, spent some time with friends, etc.

I'll probably post something in more detail tomorrow or summin'.

Have fun y'all.

Subject:France is French for Slow...
Time:04:38 pm
Just quickly updating from a France Telekom store here in... well... France, the place is a little sucky (wish I had someone who could speak french with me), tomorrow we're off to Paris, then Venice, then Rome, Egypt and Dubai. I must say, my holiday perked up substantially recently (some of you probably know why) so it's got me feeling pretty good at the moment. Anyway, I have to get going, I'll try hit the internet properly soon... perhaps even in Paris.

For now, lots of love.
